Isabel Hospice Volunteer, Betty Hoskins turns 101 - Isabel Hospice

Isabel Hospice volunteer veteran, Betty Hoskins, has been formally recognised for her hard work and dedication to her local community at a Civic reception held at the Manor House with the Mayor of Buntingford, Duncan Wallace.

Betty is a familiar face in the Isabel Hospice Buntingford shop, having volunteered there for an impressive 23 years. Not only has she recently received this much deserved recognition, but Betty is also celebrating a rather magnificent birthday this month, her 101st!

Isabel Hospice Buntingford Shop Manager, Jan Pankhurst, has worked alongside Betty for several years. She said ‘Betty has such a brilliant memory recalling all her wonderful life experiences, and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s ages and birthdays.  She is always up for a challenge, such as taking on Gift Aid which at first, she said she would never be able to do. Coming in on a Friday morning is a highlight to her week and we would be lost without her.  She is very much loved by the customers and everyone working and volunteering in the shop.’

Isabel Hospice would like to take the opportunity to send a huge congratulations and a big ‘Happy Birthday’ to Betty.

Volunteers are the heart of all that Isabel Hospice do and enable the eastern Hertfordshire based charity to continue actualising their vision of outstanding palliative care for all. Could this be the year you do something amazing and become an Isabel Hospice volunteer?

There is such a wide range of opportunities on offer across the organisation. Including shop and eBay volunteers, event assistants, sorting stock in our Donation Centre – especially for books, vinyl records and art – gardeners to help maintain the outdoor spaces at the In-Patient Unit, hospitality volunteers to support the clinical and catering teams, become a Compassionate Neighbour or simply share your skills with us and we could have a role perfect for you. The opportunities are endless!
