The atmospheric chapel at Haileybury College will provide the backdrop when Isabel Hospice’s enchanting Carols in the Chapel event returns on 19th December 2023.
The festive family-friendly event makes the perfect start to the holiday season, with some 160 people attending last years’ service to enjoy a delightful choral performance of traditional carols and songs, in an evening that raised £2,500 to support the vital work of the hospice.
At this years Carols in the Chapel event, accompanied by organ player Barbara Manning, will be voices from the Ware Choral Society performing the Christmas carol favourites. The heart-warming evening will also feature poems, readings and a raffle offering a chance to win a Christmas hamper stocked up with seasonal goodies.
Refreshments are set to follow, where mulled wine, mince pies and sausage rolls will be served in the awe-inspiring surroundings of the Haileybury grand dining hall.
Isabel Hospice President Barbara Doherty MBE said: “The chapel at Haileybury College is a marvellous setting for our Carols in the Chapel event; votive candles light the windowsills and Christmas lights twinkle on the Christmas trees.”
Barbara added: “Isabel Hospice wishes to thank the Haileybury events team and catering department for their ongoing help and support for this annual event.”
A spokesman for Isabel Hospice said “Carols in the Chapel is perfect way to kick start that Christmassy feeling. The Haileybury Chapel and dining hall are beautiful, especially when decorated for Christmas, and once there you feel as if you have been transported back in time. Add carols and festive treats to the mix and it’s like a Christmas card come to life!”
